Making the church building fit for every season

The church in Cărând serves as an important base for worship, community support and practical ministry in the village.

However, the building has been difficult to use comfortably throughout the year. The previous windows were too large, draughty and allowed excessive sunlight and heat into the building.

Romania experiences significant changes in temperature across the year, with very cold winters and intensely hot summers. A building that serves the community needs to be able to cope with both.

The current renovation project includes fitting new, better-insulated windows and installing air conditioning.

Together, these improvements will make the building more comfortable, more energy-efficient and more practical for church gatherings, community activities and visiting teams.

30% Funded

Our funding target for this project is £8,000 and this work forms part of a much broader vision for the church and local community.

The longer-term plan is to connect the church building to solar energy, reducing its dependence on increasingly expensive conventional power.

The aim is not only to meet the building’s own energy needs, but eventually to create an energy surplus that can be used to support the church’s ministry and benefit the wider community.

That could mean releasing more of the church’s limited resources for practical support, local outreach and care for families in need.

The new windows and air-conditioning system are therefore an important first step. They reduce wasted energy, improve the usability of the building and prepare it for a more sustainable future.

Why this matters

A warm building in winter and a cool building in summer may sound like a simple thing, but it makes a real difference.

It means older people can gather more comfortably. Children and families can use the space safely. Community activities can continue throughout the year. Visiting teams can serve more effectively. And the church can remain open as a welcoming and dependable presence in the village.

This project is about creating a building that is not only easier to maintain, but better equipped to serve.

How you can help

Support is needed towards the cost of the new windows, air-conditioning installation and the next stages of the church’s energy plan.

You can help by:

  • giving financially
  • sharing the project with your church or organisation
  • praying for the local church and community
  • supporting future solar and sustainability work
  • joining a practical mission team to Cărând

Every contribution helps move the church closer to becoming a comfortable, sustainable and increasingly useful resource for the whole community.
